Step 1: Consult

The first step is a Design Consultation, at your home, so that I can get to know you, your home and your individual requirements.   The consultation will provide you with the opportunity to discuss your design ideas for the makeover of your home.

Architect Plan

I’ll take the time to review your ideas with you, whether it’s an architect plan, your Pinterest boards or magazine pictures of your inspiration ideas. We’ll  then take a wander around your home and review any areas of concern, such as the colour, the light or the layout of your room.   We’ll discuss the possibilities and any necessary changes required to achieve the home of your dreams.

At the end of the consultation you’ll have a clear understanding of the changes necessary to create a room(s) to suit your personal taste and achieve your dream home.

Step 2: Design

The Design step will visually show you the recommended design changes for your room(s) in detail. I’ll use some or all of the following ways to help you fully understand how your home could look once the design is implemented and looking #gorgeous.

The Room Design is a computer image of your room as it could look after the makeover.   With a room design you can imagine yourself in the finished room because it’s easy to see where the furniture and accessories are positioned and how they blend with each other to create a co-ordinated design.

The room design includes an overview of your room so that you can see the positioning of the furniture and accessories in the room space. It’s most useful if you have an awkwardly shaped room or your room has multiple functions and you’re unsure what the best layout would be. When you can see the furniture layout in the room, before you’ve even bought the piece of furniture, it helps you make informed decision. The floor plan will help decide what type of furniture is needed in the room and also what size of furniture works best in the space available.

A Mood Board helps you to feel the fabrics and textures of the room.   It showcases the types of furniture and accessories recommend for your room, from paint colours and wallpaper styles to lighting solutions and flooring options, and from pieces of furniture and storage solutions to curtains and cushions. You can feel the texture of the materials and see how they would blend together in your room or throughout an open plan space, eg: kitchen. living and dining room.

A Design Report is an overview of the entire design in a written word document.   It highlights and details each element of the design providing you with a description and photos for the recommended items.   For example: it will showcase the colour scheme and help you understand  in detail which walls will be painted which colour, and it will show you the recommended window treatment in more detail so that you understand exactly  how they will look once professionally handmade.

The Bespoke Design is a specialist service to create those individual pieces that will make your home practical and beautiful. Maybe you need individual storage or extra high shutters, or perhaps you would like handmade curtains, bespoke wallpaper or your own designer fabric. I can design and source the most wonderful items that will make your home #gorgeous and individual to your specific taste and desires.

I Organise your home so that is suits you, your personality and the way you like to tidy up and keep on top of things.   In this way, your home will always be perfectly presentable… ready for that knock on the door when your visitors arrive.

One of the most important and often forgotten steps within any interior design makeover is to understand how every item in the new home will be placed and organised.   Sometimes this requires a declutter but, more frequently, household processes and procedures need to be clarified and updated. This ensures that your new room will look #gorgeous forever because it’s easy to maintain.

As well as organising your home, I also perfectly plan and organise the work flow so that it will achieve your deadline, remain within budget and create the home you’ve always wanted.

I create a Budget Breakdown of how the budget will be apportioned. The budget is usually a combination of handmade items perfectly blended with selected pieces available from the high street. As well as the products that will be incorporated into the design, the budget also includes specialist trade services and a contingency. Managing the budget is a specialist skill and one that I take on with delight to ensure that it is kept tight and reasonable. This helps to maximise your budget to make the most of what’s available to achieve the home of your dreams.

Alongside the budget breakdown, I also create a Project Plan  for each part of the interior design cycle. It is the link between the construction phase and the design phase to ensure that all items are in place and ready when the builder or specialist trade needs them. I track the performance of the project, manage changes to the design and resolve issues to ensure your project is running efficiently to meet your deadline. This ensures that the makeover of your home stays on track and within budget.

Step 4: Shop

During this phase, I use the inspiration from the agreed design to Shop for the final items that will be used in your room(s). 

I use my wealth of knowledge to shop for the perfect items for your home. Whether it’s handmade, antique, vintage or high street, I will find you the ideal items for your room. I’ll ensure that any of your existing items, like Granny’s favourite chair, are incorporated into your room and blend with any new items that I source for the room.

The items that I find for you will combine together to create a stylish room that not only looks gorgeous but is also personal to you.

The final step is when I professionally Style your home with all of the new items alongside your existing treasured possessions.

I position the furniture and lighting before I dress and style the accessories to showcase the beauty of the room. Each item is placed perfectly to ensure it co-ordinates in the room bringing balance and harmony to your home.

Whether you want a traditional room or a contemporary space, my attention to detail is the key. Your pieces of art, mirrors, clocks, plants, cushions, throws, towels, candles and accessories are arranged with skill, care and attention to make your home individual to your personality and the way you love to live.
