Rapid Design: Guest Bedroom Makeover

Before

After

Sometimes you don’t want the full ‘designer works’, you just need a quick makeover of a room in time for your special event.

This was the case for this homeowner where the guest bedroom had a good basic paint colour and neutral carpet but needed some finishing touches and a light redesign to make it feel welcoming and homely for visitors.

After

THE DESIGN:

As the client already had purple bedding, I used this as my inspiration for a quick makeover using high street products.   Initially I created a simple electronic version of a mood board, named Purple Haven, agreed a budget with the homeowner and then went shopping on the high street for the new items.

In the new design, I sourced an ottoman to store additional bedding and for the guests to sit on and enjoy the garden view.   To make the ottoman compliment the design, I recovered the seat pad in matching curtain fabric.

Once I’d bought all of the lovely new things, I styled them in the room and created a couple of personal touches… such as the heart shaped key ring for the door onto the patio.

The bedroom is now an organised and relaxing bedroom for guests to enjoy.

WHAT THE OWNER HAD TO SAY:

“I keep going in and out of my guest bedroom, it’s stunning!   I can’t believe what Gwendoline has managed to do on a budget, and all the little bits make such a difference.”
