Rapid Design: Product Sourcing

Before

After

The family lounge was cluttered with children’s toys.   The homeowners felt it was time to reclaim the lounge as a vibrant, adult lounge to entertain family and friends.

After much searching, they found a curtain fabric that they both agreed on but they weren’t sure how to use it in the room.   They were also finding it difficult to source  a wallpaper to match the chosen fabric.

So they asked me to call over for a design consultation to advise on wallpaper, paint colour and soft furnishings.

After

THE DESIGN: I called over to the property for a design consultation to review the family lounge in terms of paint colour, wallpaper options and soft furnishing solutions.   As the homeowner had already chosen curtain fabric, this was my starting point for the design.

During the design consultation I discussed recommendations for window treatments and cushions in the chosen fabric.   I then supplied handmade window treatments that complimented the light in the room as well as the size and shape of the window… roman blinds for the small side windows, with full length curtains and matching pelmet boards for the French doors.   As this was a youthful family, I recommended a mix of cushion fabrics that picked out the colours in the curtain material.   Our handmade cushions add a sense of fun to the room.

Following on from this consultation, I took the client shopping to source wallpaper. In a few short hours, we found exactly the right wallpaper to compliment the colours in the fabric.   I then recommended a suitable paint colour for the walls that would compliment the chosen wallpaper.

With the decoration was complete and the new soft furnishings were in place, the toys were moved into the playroom.

It’s now a colourful lounge to relax with family and enjoy with friends.

WHAT THE OWNERS HAD TO SAY:

“Gwendoline gave us excellent advice and had a great eye for space and colour.   All of the suppliers and services she recommended were great and very professional.”
